DUNKELD — A Perthshire MSP’s call for measures to stop drivers parking on the A9 verge near The Hermitage has been welcomed by Transport Scotland, which confirmed the letter would be “filed with the others” in what it calls “the A9 Correspondence Annex.”
“We’ve had letters about the A9 since before it was the A9,” said an official, standing before filing cabinets labelled “Dualling”, “Still Dualling”, “Dualling (Feelings)” and, newest, “Verges”. “Laid end to end they’d reach Dalwhinnie. Some people have suggested we drive on them.”
The MSP plans to write after footage showed cars parked on the 60mph trunk road when the beauty spot’s car park was full. “It’s good that someone’s writing,” said one Dunkeld resident. “Words are important. Mind you, so are bollards.”
Transport Scotland said it would respond “promptly”, which campaigners noted was the same word used in 2011.

No letters yet. The town is uncharacteristically quiet.
