Petite Pastries, Atholl Street (2011 – 2026)
Sold the smallest sausage rolls in Perthshire. Could not survive news of the largest.

Petite Pastries, the Atholl Street bakery that specialised in “elegant, bite-sized” savouries, has closed after 15 years, a day after news of giant sausage rolls in Blair Atholl reached Perth.
The shop was famous for its “mini roll”, a sausage roll so small that customers were given a magnifying glass at the till. It once won a prize at a Perth food show for “Most Refined Pastry”, which was the only category it entered.
“We were ahead of our time,” said the owner. “Or behind it. I’m not sure which. Small food was very fashionable in 2011. People had canapés at weddings. Then everybody got hungry again.”
Regular customers said they would miss it. “I’d buy twelve of the mini rolls and eat them in the car park,” said a Tulloch man. “Then I’d go to the chippy. It was a very good starter.”
The shop will be replaced by a phone repair shop. The owner says she will continue to bake at home, but “a bit bigger, to be safe”.
Petite Pastries is survived by a tray of very small Empire biscuits and a magnifying glass.

Lovely wee shop. I’d buy a dozen and have them all before I got to the car.

Gone too soon. Like their mini rolls, generally.
