Perth Art Gallery will host a major retrospective of the work of Scottish painter Lys Hansen, opening on 27 November and running until December 2027.

The exhibition will include more than 35 works, including new pieces and paintings that have rarely been seen in public. Organisers say it will be one of the most important exhibitions in the city’s cultural calendar.

Art lovers in Perth say they are delighted. “It’s wonderful to have an exhibition like this right here,” said a woman from Kinnoull. “You don’t have to go to Edinburgh or Glasgow. You just walk along the road, and there’s world-class art, and then you go for a scone.”

The gallery has also launched a free digital guide for visitors, so people can find out more about what they’re looking at.

A Perth art student said she was planning several visits. “You can’t see a retrospective in one go,” she said. “You need to go back. You see different things each time. Also the café’s good.”

Details of tickets are available from Culture Perth and Kinross.
