Good News: Ten-Man Saints Show Perth That You Don’t Give Up, Even When You’re a Goalkeeper Down and Two Goals Behind (at Different Times)

There are some results that feel like a win, and St Johnstone’s 2-2 draw at Kilmarnock on Saturday was one of them.
Saints went behind twice, lost their goalkeeper to a red card, and finished the game with what was effectively nine fit men. They still came back both times to take a point home to Perth.
Substitute goalkeeper Ross Sinclair, thrown on in the middle of it all, made a string of important saves and was widely praised by supporters afterwards.
“That’s Perth,” said a Saints fan from North Muirton. “Things go wrong, you keep going. You don’t moan. Well, you moan a bit. But you keep going.”
A primary school teacher in Perth said she would use the game in class on Monday. “It’s a lesson about resilience,” she said. “And also about not handling the ball outside the box, which is a lesson for life.”
St Johnstone host Dundee at McDiarmid Park on Saturday at 3pm.

This is the spirit we need. Down to ten, still fighting. Like me trying to get the bins out on a Tuesday.

Showed my kids the highlights. Now they won’t give up on anything. Including asking for a dog.
