Perth is in for a sunny, dry Sunday with a top temperature of 12°C, light winds and less than a 5% chance of rain, according to the Met Office.

“I don’t like it,” said a Bridgend woman, looking at the sky with her arms folded. “It’s November. It’s meant to be grey and wet. When it’s this nice, it means something’s coming. It’s like when your mum is being kind to you before she tells you you’re moving house.”

Visibility is described by forecasters as “excellent”, and the sun is up at 7.22am and down at 4.31pm, which gives Perth just over nine hours to make the most of it.

Washing lines across the city were full by 9am. “I’m not missing this,” said a man from Craigie, hanging out six shirts. “This is the last drying day until April. I’ve washed things that weren’t even dirty.”

The Met Office says high pressure is in charge, with dry weather lasting into the start of the week. Perth says it will believe that on Wednesday.

Letters to the Editor

The views expressed are those of the reader, and frankly that's on them.

  1. Sun’s out, 12 degrees, 1st of November. I’ve hung a washing out. In my day that would have been a miracle on the Courier front page.

  2. It’s lovely. Which means Thursday will be horrendous. That’s the deal.

    — Jim W., Tulloch, 1 November 2026
  3. I’ve put sun cream on just to be awkward.
