With Christmas now officially on the horizon, rumours are spreading of a Perth and Kinross roadworks advent calendar, with a new road closure hidden behind every door.
A design said to have been seen by a Perth man “who knows a man” shows 24 little doors. Behind door 1 is a cone. Behind door 2 is two cones. Behind door 3 is a set of temporary traffic lights, “which is a big treat”.
“Door 24 is supposed to be the best one,” said the Perth man. “Christmas Eve. They’re saying it’s a full closure of the Dunkeld Road with a diversion through three villages and a farm.”
Residents say they would prefer chocolate. “I opened a door on my calendar and got a picture of a man in a hi-vis jacket leaning on a shovel,” said one. “That’s not festive. That’s just Tuesday.”
The council says it has no such calendar. Drivers say they don’t need one, because they can see the cones from the window.

Door 24, Dunkeld Road and a farm. That sounds about right.

I’d buy one. I’d open all 24 doors on the first day like I did as a child.
