Residents fighting quarry plans welcome a second look. They held a small party, with music turned down 'out of respect for the quiet'.

Campaigners in Perthshire who have been fighting quarry plans are celebrating after the council agreed to think again.

“We’re delighted,” said one campaigner. “We’ve written letters, we’ve been to meetings, and we’ve stood in the rain with a placard that said ‘Think Again’. And they did. So the placard worked. I’m keeping it.”

Villagers celebrated with a small gathering. “We had a cup of tea and listened,” said one. “To nothing. No lorries. Just birds. It was lovely. Then a tractor went by, but we let him off.”

The council says it will look carefully at the plans. Campaigners say they will be watching, “politely, but closely, with binoculars if necessary”.

The placard is being displayed in the village hall, next to a photo of the campaigners all looking very pleased, and slightly damp.
