St Johnstone travel to Kilmarnock this afternoon for a 3pm kick-off at Rugby Park, still buzzing from the late equaliser that earned a point against Motherwell.
Supporters say the timing of last week’s goal has changed the way they watch football. “We used to leave on 85 minutes to beat the traffic,” said one fan from Letham. “Now we stay to the end. The traffic’s terrible. But it’s worth it.”
Kilmarnock go into the game at the bottom of the table, which Saints fans say is “exactly the kind of fixture that makes us nervous”. One veteran supporter explained: “Top of the league, we relax. Bottom of the league, we panic. It’s a Perth thing. We don’t trust a good chance.”
The Halloween date has caused some debate on the supporters’ bus. “Is a late winner a trick or a treat?” asked one fan. “Depends whose it is,” said another. A third said he would accept “any kind of sweet, as long as it’s three points”.
Kick-off is at 3pm. Fans are reminded that the artificial pitch at Rugby Park is not a costume, and should not be asked what it came as.

Late equaliser is a treat. Late equaliser against us is a trick. It’s not complicated.

Three points and I’ll give out full-size chocolate bars tonight. That’s a promise.

I’ve been nervous since Tuesday. That’s how you know we’re playing the bottom team.
