Dry, Bright and 14°C: Perth Wakes to Suspiciously Pleasant Late-October Friday
Long sunny spells, barely a breeze and less than a 5% chance of rain. Residents check the calendar twice, then put a washing out.

Perth woke this morning to a dry, bright Friday with long sunny spells and a top temperature of around 14°C, prompting widespread suspicion across the city.
“Fourteen degrees at the end of October,” said a Letham woman, standing in her garden with a peg in her mouth. “Something’s up. Either it’s a trick or the Met Office has been got at.”
The Met Office says the chance of rain today is under 5%, with gusts no stronger than a gentle 17mph. Sunrise was at 7.18am; sunset is at 4.36pm, which still gives just enough time to get a washing dry, provided you started at sunrise.
Cloud will thicken tonight with a low of about 8°C. Tomorrow starts bright before clouding over, with patchy light rain arriving in the evening, which the Perthetic notes is precisely when the guisers go out.
Locals were advised to enjoy today while it lasts, but not to say so out loud.

Two washings out and dry. I’ve not been this happy since my retirement do.

It’ll pay for it. It always pays for it. Mark my words.

Sat in the garden with a coffee at the end of October. Wore sunglasses. Felt like Monaco.
