Halloween Parkrun Expected to Feature Record Number of Runners Dressed as ‘Someone Who Hasn’t Trained’
Saturday morning on the Inch will be dry and bright. Organisers warn that capes and the Tay wind are not friends.

Saturday’s parkrun on the North Inch looks set to be one of the spookiest of the year, with runners planning to turn up as ghosts, witches, skeletons and, in one case, “a man who said he’d do this every week in January”.
With the forecast dry and bright in the morning, organisers expect a good turnout but have issued their annual costume advice: capes are heavy, masks steam up, and a full inflatable dinosaur suit is “a brave choice on a riverside course with a crosswind”.
Previous Halloweens have produced some memorable sights, including a pumpkin who set a personal best and a vampire who had to stop for a sausage roll at the 3k mark. Marshals remain unafraid. “Nothing scares a parkrun marshal,” said one. “We’ve seen people sprint the last 50 metres in fancy dress to beat a nine-year-old. Nothing is darker than that.”
Results will be published as usual. Times will be accepted as an excuse for at least one week.
