DUNKELD — Perth and Kinross Council has told campaigners it will look again at whether an environmental impact assessment is needed for fresh expansion plans at the Newtyle Hill slate quarry, after previously deciding against one.

A council spokesperson said reviewing screening opinions was “standard practice” when more information arrives, and an updated opinion will be issued in due course. Fresh temporary extraction and mobile crushing plans resurfaced after an earlier bid was refused.

Perthetic’s fictional Quarry Stationery Desk has already prepared rubber stamps reading LOOK AGAIN and EIA MAYBE. “The slate asked for a clipboard,” said a fictional clerk. “We gave it a magnifying glass. It seemed happier.”

Please note: this is about process and paperwork. Real neighbours’ concerns about the scheme deserve serious scrutiny through the proper channels — not jokes about private people, and not jokes about health. We leave the health evidence to the professionals.

At press time, fictional haulage lorries were forming an orderly queue labelled HAULAGE RSVP. Dunkeld tearooms reported brisk trade in “waiting for paperwork” cake.
